PRO DV Software AG got involved in the research and development area already a few years back. PRO DV assumed coordinating the project GALILEO4FireBrigades, sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology.
"GALILEO4FireBrigades – application of GALILEO-services during large-area fire brigade missions", is a joint project that deals with the improvement of action force protection during major damage situations. The aim is to develop a mobile system based on GALILEO-services that localises the fire brigade action force, supervises their health state, and warns them.
High risks, in particular health-endangering situations, any action force is always exposed to during a fire brigade mission, shall be reduced by the application of location-based mobile data recording and wireless information transfer. A special mobile client shall contribute thereby to a faster rescue from a situation of danger. In this context, especially the determined position of the action force plays a very important role. Fast aid is only possible when the persons in danger can be exactly localised. This is where the future GALILEO-services come into operation. These services support the localisation due to reliable position data and signal availability, contributing therefore to civil security.
The project partners (University of Dortmund and Paderborn, University of Applied Sciences Bochum, Fire Brigade Dortmund, and the IFR – Institute for Fire Brigade and Rescue Technology) ascertained the schedule and milestones in a first kick-off meeting, and are already working on the implementation of the first work packages. The project is scheduled with a term of two years, and publicly sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology, and promoted by the Space Agency of the German Aerospace Centre under the promotional reference number 50 NA 0722.
PRO DV continuously expands by this further project commitment its competence and expertise in the area of civil protection and emergency prevention solutions. A prominent example is the German Emergency Prevention Information System deNIS IIplus that meanwhile became the Civil Protection IT-Basis par excellence in the Federal Republic of Germany.
